It happened! Monday night, we opened at the Charing Cross Theatre in London, a dream come true. What a visceral joy watching this cast in action - the talent on stage and off feels legendary. And it doesn't hurt that the critics agree! Some highlights below, with more reviews on Yank! in London's Facebook page! To have this city I treasure, with a theatre culture second to none, embrace Joe and my show is dizzying. Here's hoping many, many people see this wonderful production! - DZ "A truly lovely surprise - one of the most charming shows in town ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️" Mark Shenton, LondonTheatre.co.uk. The story is compelling, the music never puts a foot wrong – guess what I’m listening to on Spotify as I write this – and the production is just amazing on all levels. The show varies from extreme highs to horrific lows but everything fits together perfectly and, at the end, there was a real poignancy in the glimmer of hopeful light that the story ended with. It was quite poignant that I saw the show a couple of days after Pride when so many LGBT+ people were able to celebrate the freedom to be themselves in a way that Stu and Mitch were never able to. Like so many others I was on my feet at the end cheering and wiping away a tear knowing that I had just experienced something really special." London Theatre 1. Read More! "Yank! Is a beautiful love story, and one that deserves to be told. The score, cast and choreography are first class and this could easily enjoy a decent West End run, with some upgrading of sets and costumes. While there’s a lot to love, it’s the touching and dynamic performances from Andy Coxon and Scott Hunter, who have this incredible chemistry together, which makes this one of the best musicals to hit London this year." Theatre Weekly. Read More! "A beautifully moving and heartfelt love story with comedy, danger and pride. A romance blossomed in the troops of WWII that would change lives and history. A fantastic show that’s story you need to see." -All Things Stagey. Read More! "Tonight marked the West End premiere of the 2010 off-Broadway musical, Yank! which tells the true story of two men who fell in love during World War II. Since making its UK premiere at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, Yank! has been a highly anticipated transfer as people were eager to hear the story that didn't make the history books and last night it opened to staggering applause and a standing ovation." "Opening, appropriately enough, the day after the end of this year's Pride, it is hard to think of a more beautifully crafted and engaging plea for love and tolerance than this unexpected gem. The off-Broadway premiere was nominated for the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, and it's not hard to see why." What's On Stage. Read More!
